From time to time, you'll see blog posts that don't have anything to with makeup but still deals with the arts world. I like to show my appreciation for people who have stood out to me in the arts world and somehow influenced me as a person and an artist. Gene Wilder is one of those people.
I can't tell you how many times I've watched "Charlie and The Chocolate Factory." If you've read my bio, you know that I love to read. Well, I was introduced to the book first but the movie really captured my heart. It was the imagination that as presented in the film, along with the genius of Gene Wilder.
"Charlie and The Chocolate Factory" did wonders for my imagination as a kid. What was done in this 1970s flick really spoke volumes to me about imagination and showed me that anything was possible. The story alone shows us the power of the underdog. Charlie's family wasn't rich or famous. It seemed that the odds were against him to take the journey to the factory in the first place. Yet, we see him and his family take a beautiful journey and we get to watch it unfold.
Gene Wilder was amazing as Willy Wonka! Funny that this movie didn't do well at the box office, yet, is one of his most memorable characters. I appreciate his comedic genius and his ability to make me laugh or smile. . .and even dream big! His appreciation of his craft will always be a standout for me.
You will be missed, Gene Wilder. Thanks for all that you've done to impact the entertainment industry.
