Are You Worth The Investment?
In keeping with National Women's History Month, I wanted to touch on beauty and investing in ourselves. So often, we invest in others and then somehow, seem to forget that we need to do things for ourselves.
The question I pose now is this: Are YOU worth the investment? Think about this carefully. With a resounding "yes!" we say with our mouths that we are worth investing in but not always so much with action.
What do you mean, Tammy? Well, let 's think about this. . .what goals have you set this year for yourself outside of your family (or others)? Do you have any career goals that you would like to accomplish? What about any personal goals (like wearing makeup more often or sprucing up your image)?
One may wonder what sprucing up your image has to do with anything. I'll tell you the honest truth: A LOT! We often have been told (in one way or another) that we may not measure up or that image or beauty isn't important. We were lied to y'all! Seriously.
I put my headshot up here because it's the end result of an "image polishing" goal of mine. I wanted to step my image game up. This was personal.
I knew that I wanted some new, updated headshots and I thought my plan out. I knew what I wanted to wear and how I wanted my makeup. I then took action and called in the team and we went to work. It was SO much fun! It also took me out of my comfort zone. It's easier for me to be behind the camera. I believe in stepping out of my comfort zone. It's where the fun is, to be honest. We know what to expect IN our comfort zone-that's why it's called 'comfort.' It's outside of that that new and different experience are waiting for you.
You may be wondering what this has to do with you. . .well, I would say this: start thinking about who you are and how you want that to be presented to the world. Then, decide what action you are going to take to get there. Are you looking for a new job? What about a career change? Or just want to start presenting yourself in a better way? Opt for some great headshots. Headshots really makes ALL the difference when you are presenting yourself to the world.
Are you a blogger? A business mogul? Or a business leader? If you have never had headshots done, it may be time to start thinking about how this investment in yourself can increase your value. If you've had them done but it's been a while, it may be time to start thinking about a new, updated image. We live in a very visual world. A way to stand apart is having a professional headshot. It says that you take your brand seriously because you are willing to invest in yourself. The goal is to look like a well-put together and polished you.
You already have your makeup artist (me)! I can recommend Karea as a photographer. She's great-just look at how my images turned out! Ife is great with natural hair too!
It's important to note that this is an investment. That basically means you want these done right. In order for that to happen, you've gotta call in the pros because they know what they're doing. You don't want a bad headshot of your floating around. That is thee worst!
When you have a date in mind, let's talk soon (email or phone). You ARE worth the investment!
Martin Luther King (MLK Day, 2017)
Just wanted to take a moment to pay honor to a man who changed The United States of America as we know it.
In a time much like today, with social unrest and challenges, Dr. King didn't just sit back and let the world do its thing. He took a stand-along with many others to make the world different. We are still feeling the affects of that powerful stand today.
I'm not sure that many of us would be where we are today if not for him and people like him. We have been celebrating this national holiday for quite a while now. It says a lot when people push for a holiday to honor you decades after you leave this earth.
My hope is that we will all live our lives on purpose. Not just to serve ourselves or our families only but to serve mankind. The greatest sacrifice is to lay down your life for a friend (or someone other than yourself). In this instance, "laying down" isn't your physical body but rather your time and effort.
Thank you, Dr. King for being such a great example of living life on purpose and with purposeful intent!
